Words of Encouragement

Hello, my fellow delegates. These past few days have been quite exhilarating getting to meet and interact with you all. Some of us, like me, came here with anticipation to learn more about our government, but also to learn more about ourselves and who we want to become while building these new meaningful connections. Putting yourself out there isn’t easy, especially when that means speaking in front of over 450 driven, hardworking, and passionate young women in Missouri Girls State. The first day, I was still trying to get a grasp of everything, but by the second day I realized that these young women, who I have come to cherish and appreciate, were here for me even those who aren't part of the amazing Adreon City.

One piece of advice I want you all to leave here with will be that you never know enough. Regardless of the age, gender, ethnicity, or religion of a person, you can always learn from them. Being open to attentively listening to people and hearing their perspectives even if you don’t agree with them is something I believe is important. When we are open to the different perspectives and ideologies of each other this allows us to be better communicators and ensures that we can better meet the needs of those who we want to impact.

Even when you feel down and unambitious, I want to remind you all of a particular quote that continues to resonate with me. “ You will never be motivated, so you must learn to be disciplined.” This simple yet powerful quote, whose author is unknown, came at a time I needed it the most. I had tried so many times to keep myself motivated, but I had to learn that there are days I don’t feel so bubbly and ready to crush it, but remembering my reason for even starting will help guide and discipline me to keep on going even when I feel like stopping. I hope this quote brings you the reassurance and guidance you need as you navigate through life and experience similar doubts.

Lastly, never underestimate yourself. If you want to achieve something, don’t be afraid to fail because failure is bound to happen, be afraid that you let failure stop you from at least trying. I want you all to leave here knowing that there is nothing you aren’t capable of doing as long as you are passionate and put in the effort. Everyone has something special to offer. Always remember to be the truest version of yourself, love and cherish every moment in your life, and those around you.

Adreon City!

I have met so many amazing young women these few days, and I can't wait to learn more about them and hear about the things they will achieve because I know we all will reach beyond the skies. Lets keep reaching!
