Katherine Moore

My name is Katherine Moore and I live in Joplin. I was chosen by my school to attend Missouri Girls State, and so far, it has been incredible. The women I have met have been so encouraging. It’s strange to think I never would’ve come if it weren’t for my mother. I come from a family of go-getters. My siblings- two sisters and three brothers- are driven, talented, and then some. I wanted to be just like them, but the idea of a week-long camp scared me. It was my mom who pushed me to come. She used her second grade teaching persuasion skills on me, and I’m so glad she did! When my mom and dad took me to orientation, I knew I wanted to take the journalism and media class. I loved to write, so I knew that that would be the best school for me. I was thrilled when I was elected to be on the newspaper staff. Now that I’m here, I’m excited to document all the elections, scandals, and other events that happen at Girls State.
